At Kilwins, we truly believe that love is the secret ingredient. Many of our products are hand-made in-store by our dedicated confectioners, the same way we made them in our Petoskey chocolate kitchen in the 1940s.
Many of our candies are still made with the original recipes crafted by our founders. Our Heritage chocolate is the exact same as it was when we opened nearly 80 years ago, and even our copper kettle-cooked caramel is made using Don Kilwin’s original recipe. In our West Chester ice cream store, you can find a treat for everyone. We offer velvety chocolate truffles, chewy caramels, and even our “Perfect” Caramel Apples, which are hand-dipped in our store.
Although we have certainly grown since 1947, our goal is still simple: to serve the best confections to our treasured guests. It’s the same goal we’ve had since our founders opened the first Kilwins in the 1940s, and we like to think we’ve succeeded.

Our very first confection may have been our 1947 Heritage chocolate, but our Original Recipe Ice Cream, formulated in 1985, is one of our pride and joys. We still use our recipe but add new inclusions and ingredients to bring you exciting new flavors. Our rich, creamy ice cream comes in every flavor you can imagine and is served in our warm, made-in-house waffle cones and waffle bowls.
Our Original Recipe Ice Cream was first developed in 1985, and it was so popular that we knew it would become a lasting member of our confectionary lineup. Like many of our sweets, the recipe has not changed since we first developed it.
Each flavor of our ice cream starts with our ultra-rich Original Recipe Ice Cream base. This base is made with fresh cream from family-owned farms, and all of our flavors are Kosher-certified. Some of our limited-edition flavors even incorporate chocolate, nuts, and other ingredients that come from our own kitchens.
Our ice cream is transported in our own temperature-controlled vans to ensure it doesn’t melt on its way to our West Chester ice cream store. The ice cream itself is packaged in our custom-made tubs designed to preserve the texture and flavor as it’s being transported.

Our West Chester ice cream store is the only place you’ll find our deliciously rich Original Recipe Ice Cream. Each flavor is made with fresh milk sourced from family farms, and like many of our sweets, our ice cream is Kosher-certified.
We pride ourselves on how much we care about the quality of our ice cream. We use our own temperature-controlled transport vehicles and drivers, and our ice cream tubs are specially designed to keep our ice cream as fresh as possible.
Our West Chester chocolate store has a wide range of chocolates available. We offer chocolate truffles, creams, and caramels, as well as chocolate-covered nuts and chocolate bark. Of course, all of our chocolate treats are made with our 1947 Heritage chocolate.
You can also try our made-in-store Mackinac Island Fudge. All flavors of our classic fudge are paddled by hand and shaped on marble slabs, just like we made it nearly 80 years ago. You can also find several chocolate-dipped treats made right behind the counter.
