Kilwins first began when our founders, Don and Katy Kilwin, opened the first store in Petoskey, Michigan. What started as a small storefront dedicated to serving chocolate to the community eventually blossomed. Today, we are proud to call 25 states home.

Our Heritage chocolate hasn’t changed since 1947, and our caramels have been made the same way for the past 80 years. Even our Original Recipe Ice Cream still uses the recipe we created in 1985. We don’t need to change our recipes to make them better — we focus on maintaining quality and inventing new flavors.
For instance, most of the confections you’ll see in our Hoover chocolate store are still made by hand in our candy kitchens. Even in the 21st century, it still makes the best candy. We opt for quality over quantity every time. We like to think that love truly is the secret ingredient.

When we first decided to start serving ice cream in 1985, we had no idea it would be such a popular treat. After its resounding success, we knew it deserved a permanent place in every Kilwins.
As the name suggests, our Original Recipe Ice Cream is still made using the same recipe we used back in 1985. All of our flavors are crafted with fresh milk sourced from family farms.
We’re dedicated to perfection, which is why our Kosher-certified ice cream is stored in custom tubs that preserve the rich flavor and smooth texture. When it’s time to ship it to our Hoover ice cream store, we transport it using our company-owned, temperature-controlled vans.
