There’s a reason our confections are the best around. Almost all of our recipes were originally dreamed up by Don and Katy Kilwin, our founders.
When they first opened the original Kilwins store in 1947, Don and Katy had no way of knowing just how popular their chocolate treats would become. Now, Kilwins has over 150 stores in 25 states, including our Grand Haven ice cream store.
Since then, we’ve been dedicated to preserving the recipes that we’ve shared from the beginning. Our Heritage chocolate is made the same way Don made it 70 years ago, and our caramels are still made using his unbeatable recipe. Even our Original Recipe Ice Cream, which we developed using Don’s values and techniques, has been unchanged since 1985.
At our Grand Haven location, you can find TUTTLE ™ Nut Caramels, Heritage chocolate bars, and truffles freshly delivered from our Kilwins kitchen. Our warm Americana decor is amplified by the aroma of freshly made Mackinac Island Fudge, hand-paddled on marble countertops like it was over 70 years ago.

You might walk through our doors for our specialty Heritage chocolate, but don’t leave without trying our Original Recipe Ice Cream. This ice cream is made with our original 1985 recipe, and our flavor list is growing every day. With its rich flavor and creamy texture, our ice cream is sure to stay on your mind long after your last bite.
At Kilwins, we strongly believe in having something for everyone. At our Grand Haven chocolate store, you can find a flavor to satisfy any craving. What gives our Original Recipe Ice Cream its heavenly flavor? That would be our proprietary ice cream base made from farm-fresh, locally sourced cream.
Once our ice cream is made, we pack it into customized tubs designed to protect it and preserve its flavor. Then, the ice cream arrives in our Grand Haven ice cream store in our very own temperature-controlled ice cream transport vans. After much testing, we decided that this was the only way to ensure our ice cream quality through transport.

Once you choose your ice cream flavor, layer on the toppings and enjoy your creation in a freshly made waffle cone still warm from the press.
Kilwins is the only place you’ll find our Original Recipe Ice Cream. This ice cream is made using the same recipe we’ve been using since 1985, and we use only local, farm-fresh cream for our base.
You’ll also find that many times, other ice cream brands tend to thaw a bit during transport. This can make it develop crystals and thicken in texture. We’re dedicated to preserving the quality and perfection of our ice cream, which is why we’ve taken measures to keep this from happening.
Kilwins ice cream is packed in specially designed shopping tubs that are made to keep ice cream as fresh as possible. We then transport the ice cream to our Grand Haven ice cream store in our temperature-controlled transport vehicles. We can almost guarantee our ice cream will be as creamy and rich when you eat it as it was on the day it was made.
We offer a variety of flavors, and you can mix and match until you find a combination that you enjoy. With multiple toppings available and the creativity of our confectioners at the ready, you can build a truly custom treat.
