Kilwins was first started by Don and Katy Kilwin, two dessert lovers who wanted to share their passion with others. They opened the very first Kilwins store as a bakery in Petoskey, Michigan, in 1947, selling fresh baked goods. They eventually started selling batches of chocolate and candies to friends, neighbors, and, eventually, out-of-town tourists curious about this new chocolate store they heard so much about!
As the years went by, they started innovating, coming up with new products and flavors. We remain committed to the recipes from back then but we still keep on innovating. Our focus on tradition and creativity is why Kilwins remains so popular and well-regarded.
Kilwins remains a family business, locally owned and run at every store. Today, we are honored to have Kilwins in Cumming, Georgia. Our home in Forsyth County is a wonderful place to relax, unwind, and plan a perfect summer (or winter, fall, or spring) getaway.

It’s made in-house, so people can watch the magic (and fudge) take shape right before their eyes. Our team does everything with care, from stirring our rich Mackinac Island Fudge in copper kettles to hand-pulling it on a marble slab.
Watch as a new batch of fudge coats the marble counter like paint on a canvas. Our fudge makers use traditional hand-paddling techniques to shape and harden the fudge until it is ready to be served. You might even be given a sample piece straight off the counter!
