Come winter, take some fudge to Hemlock Ice Rink and watch skaters spin circles and snowflakes fall; it's almost like a scene from a movie. In the warmer months, nothing beats bringing your favorite flavor of ice cream to nearby Hemlock Park to watch a tennis match or sit by the shore of the Muskegon River.
There’s not really a major secret to what makes Kilwins so amazing (although we do have our share of secret recipes). Instead, we focus on traditional candy-making methods. For example, we make our world-famous Mackinac Island Fudge by hand on a marble countertop, like it was in the 1940s. The way Don Kilwin made candy over seven decades ago is still the way we make it today—from marble-made fudge to caramels made in copper kettles.
Although we're proud of our wide selection of chocolates, our Original Recipe Ice Cream also deserves a round of applause. Our ice cream isn't ordinary ice cream—it's extraordinary. It didn't earn the name "Super-Premium" for nothing.
Kilwins ice cream is unique in that it starts from an ultra-high-quality base: cream and milk from local, family-owned farms. After all, if the cows that make the milk aren't happy, how can the ice cream make people happy?
Once we have the base, our ice cream is made carefully under the watchful eye of our pastry chefs. We worked on creating flavors for every ice cream fan. We have the classics, like vanilla and chocolate, made with the same dedication and care our Heritage chocolates receive. You can expect to see dozens of flavors, with notes of summer fruits, toasted nuts, fresh mints, and more.

The Kilwins Kosher-certified ice cream recipe has been famous since we finalized it in 1985 and brought it to the public. As more and more people heard of our incredible ice cream, we needed a way to bring it to them. However, we needed it to arrive in the flawless condition our customers knew and appreciated.
We realized what we needed to do was make and run our own ice cream transport vans. Once we had our temperature-controlled transport fleet, we could control the chill in every van to prevent both melting and freezer burn.

As more and more people heard of our incredible ice cream, we needed a way to bring it to them, including the Big Rapids ice cream store. However, we needed it to arrive in the flawless condition our customers knew and appreciated.
We realized what we needed to do was make and run our own ice cream transport vans. Once we had our temperature-controlled transport fleet, we could control the chill in every van to prevent both melting and freezer burn.
Additionally, inside our custom vans, we store our ice cream in custom storage containers. Our storage containers have a specific size, shape, and slope we carefully engineered to preserve the consistency that's unbelievably smooth and silky.
