Walking into our Baltimore chocolate store is like walking into a confectionary dreamland. From the minute you open the door, you’ll be greeted with the aroma of our made-in-store waffle cones and a warm welcome from our friendly team members.
Behind the counter, you can see our confectioners carefully shaping our hand-paddled Mackinac Island Fudge and dipping our “Perfect” caramel apples. Meanwhile, you can look over our display of chocolate-dipped fruits, nuts, marshmallows, and more — all made using our nationally known Heritage chocolate.

Kilwins has been a treasured part of the national community since 1947, when Don and Katy Kilwin opened the first store in Petoskey, Michigan. They dedicated themselves to crafting the best chocolate, and once they felt confident in their recipe, they invited their community to give it a try.
Now, Kilwins spans 160 stores and 25 states, and our range of sweets has grown even larger. Most of the iconic treats at our Baltimore chocolate store are still made using the original recipes and techniques favored by the Kilwins, just the way Don and Katy would have wanted it.
For instance, our Mackinac Island Fudge is hand-paddled on marble slabs using our original recipe. You don’t need to plan a trip to Michigan to taste the iconic Mackinac Island way of making fudge: You can see it yourself at our Baltimore Fells Point chocolate store. Our perfectly chewy caramel is dropped by hand into our copper kettles, and our heavenly nut brittles and clusters haven’t changed in almost 80 years.
We firmly believe that our treats can add a touch of sweetness to any occasion or setting. We may have started with chocolate, but our Original Recipe Ice Cream has become by far our biggest hit. With a variety of flavors and toppings and our deliciously creamy recipe, our ice cream will quickly become a family favorite. The recipe for our Original Recipe Ice Cream dates back to 1985, and as the name suggests, we have not changed it since.
Each of our unique flavors is made using local cream sourced from family farms and is 100 percent Kosher certified. Most of the limited-edition flavors available in our Baltimore chocolate store are also made with our homemade ingredients.
Our pursuit of perfection doesn’t just stop at our recipe alone. The real secret behind our rich, smooth ice cream is our transportation practices.
We transport our ice cream using our own temperature-controlled transport vans, which are driven by dedicated Kilwins employees. The tubs that our ice cream is packed in are specially designed to preserve the integrity of our delicious ice cream so that it reaches our Baltimore Fells Point ice cream store in perfect condition.
When you come to Kilwins, take a look around at all of our flavors. Our friendly staff can help you taste test until you find the perfect flavor for the day’s activities. Then, you can combine flavors and toppings to build your own Kilwins sundae, if you’d like. Finally, top things off with one of our made-in-house waffle cones. We use our own temperature-controlled transport vehicles and custom-designed tubs to keep our ice cream as fresh as possible, and each flavor base is made with cream from local family farms. With rotating special edition flavors, the flavor combinations are endless.
