However, the Kilwins name symbolizes more than our wide variety of treats—it encompasses our dedication to perfection. Most of our recipes (like our caramel and Heritage Chocolate recipes) haven’t changed since the mid-1900s. After all, why would we change what’s already perfect? The first Kilwins store was opened in 1947 by Don and Katy Kilwin, our founders. Today, we have many more locations in many more states, but our mission remains simple and straightforward: to serve the best confections around.
To us, this is about more than the high-quality ingredients we use. We protect the quality of our ice cream by using our own temperature-controlled trucks and drivers to transport it to our stores. We carefully monitor everything to make sure nothing compromises our sweets.
Many of our products are made by hand. Making hand-paddled chocolate fudge and hand-dropped caramels speaks to our “quality over quantity” values. We’ve found that the quality of handcrafted confections is immeasurably better than those made in factories.
