At our LaCenterra chocolate store, we combine modern and traditional candy-making methods. Utilizing the best of both worlds allows each product to be made exactly to our high standards. We even have Heritage equipment that has stood the test of time, dating back to the early days of Kilwins in the 1940s.
For example, our Mackinac Island Fudge is made using traditional hand-paddling techniques on marble countertops. The recipe we use was developed by our founder, Don Kilwin himself, and customers can watch the process unfold right before their eyes. If you come in at the right time, you may even be able to sample our fudge right after it cools.
Our LaCenterra chocolate store is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our founders, Don and Katy Kilwin. Like all our products, our ice cream is held to the highest standard. It must be handled and shipped carefully so that it stays fresh once it reaches our LaCenterra ice cream store. That’s why we operate our own line of climate-controlled vehicles, which keeps the ice cream from melting or freezing.
We also use customized tubs to contain our ice cream. Our team designed these tubs with precise measurements to maintain our ice cream’s consistency and quality. Thanks to these final touches, once the ice cream reaches our Katy ice cream store, it’s flawless and ready to serve.

Our handmade Mackinac Island Fudge is one of our most celebrated products. Don Kilwin believed in how they made fudge on Mackinac Island and taught himself how to do it that way. From making the fudge mixture in a copper kettle to letting it cool on marble, the process is an art form to us.
